Fairmint has brought Canton Strategic Holdings’ (NASDAQ: CNTN) shares onchain for a landmark trade on the Canton Network through TSV. The transaction puts Fairmint’s infrastructure to work in public equity markets, connecting tokenized shares with accountable ownership records and the rights shareholders expect.

Since we founded Fairmint, we have been building toward this moment: equity that is programmable, with ownership records and transfer controls built into the infrastructure through which it moves.

Today, that work is supporting an executed public-company stock trade. It also establishes a path for other companies to follow.

Could your company be next?

Join Fairmint's upcoming issuer briefing to see how we brought CNTN's shares onchain and what your company would need to follow.

The ownership infrastructure behind the trade

Fairmint provided the infrastructure to tokenize CNTN’s shares. Fairmint TA LLC, our SEC-registered transfer-agent subsidiary, serves as transfer agent for the tokenized shares and maintains their official onchain ownership record as part of CNTN’s official stock ledger.

Holders retain the same rights and privileges as holders of the Company’s common stock traded on Nasdaq.

TSV provides the trading venue, powered by the Tradecraft protocol on the Canton Network. The transaction settled atomically, meaning the shares and payment transferred together.

Each participant has a defined responsibility. Fairmint’s role connects the tokenized shares to the issuer’s authorized ownership record and the controls governing their transfer.

What another public company can build on

The opportunity extends beyond a single transaction.

Public companies exploring tokenization need to establish which shares will be represented onchain, who is authorized to hold and transfer them, how shareholder rights are preserved and who is accountable for maintaining the record.

Fairmint’s Onchain Transfer Agent services bring those requirements together. We work with companies to define the appointment, the shares covered, shareholder onboarding, transfer controls and coordination with existing service providers and intended trading venues.

This gives companies a practical starting point for bringing their own equity onchain.

Fairmint also developed the Open Cap Table Protocol, an open specification extending the Open Cap Table Format onchain. Its foundation in open standards supports the broader goal of ownership records that can connect with financial institutions and market infrastructure.

A framework for making this repeatable

Fairmint’s November 3 SEC comment letter addresses how transfer-agent rules can support this evolution.

The letter advocates consistent standards for shareholder records, whether maintained on conventional systems or distributed ledgers. It calls for clear accountability, tested recovery procedures and coordination between recordkeeping transfer agents and co-transfer agents serving tokenized positions.

It also asks the SEC to clarify how one authoritative ownership record can support activity across multiple trading venues.

These recommendations reflect the questions companies and market participants must resolve as onchain equity expands: who can authorize a change, which record governs ownership and how responsibilities remain clear as shares move.

Bring your company’s shares onchain

CNTN’s trade demonstrates what issuer participation, transfer-agent accountability and onchain trading infrastructure can accomplish together.

For Fairmint, it is a foundation for the next issuer, the next transaction and a more connected equity market.

Our upcoming issuer briefing will unpack how the transaction worked and what another company would need to follow, with a presentation and moderated Q&A.
