How it started
In 2018 two of us kept running into the same wall. A company would raise money, issue shares, promise people ownership — and then that ownership would live in a spreadsheet on someone’s laptop. Investors could not check what they held. Founders could not answer simple questions without calling a lawyer. Everyone agreed it was fine, because it had always been that way.
It is not fine. A share is only a share because a register says so. If that register is a file nobody can verify, then ownership is a promise rather than a fact, and nothing built on top of it can really work.
So we went and became a transfer agent. Not the fun part of the job, but the part that mattered: in the United States, the official list of who owns what is kept by a registered agent, and we wanted to keep it properly. Onchain, live, and open enough that other people could build on it too.
That is still the whole company. We keep the record. We make it move.
