Your role

Fairmint is seeking a Chief Legal Officer / General Counsel to lead the legal and policy frontier of programmable equity.

This is an opportunity for an accomplished legal leader to shape how equity securities and digital assets converge into a unified financial infrastructure.

You’ll be at the forefront of industry dialogue - influencing regulation, guiding policy, and helping define the frameworks that will govern the next generation of private markets.

You’ll partner directly with the CEO and leadership team to ensure Fairmint’s onchain protocol and infrastructure set the gold standard for compliant, modern capital markets.

What you'll own

• Lead Fairmint’s legal and regulatory strategy across securities, blockchain, and fintech domains
• Engage with SEC, FINRA, and state regulators to advance compliant innovation in crypto and equity securities
• Design regulatory frameworks and product architectures that enable programmable ownership and compliant secondary liquidity
• Advise the CEO and board on corporate structure, governance, and capital formation
• Represent Fairmint in industry coalitions, working groups, and policy initiatives (e.g. Open Cap Table Coalition, L Suite, ...)
• Oversee contracts, data, privacy, and compliance with rigor and efficiency
• Manage external counsel and coordinate global legal strategy
• Serve as a thought leader - publishing insights, speaking at events, and helping shape the legal narrative around onchain equity

What we're looking for

• 10+ years of experience in securities, fintech, or capital markets law
• Deep understanding of crypto securities, private markets, and digital asset regulation (SEC, CFTC, and global frameworks)
• Proven ability to engage with regulators and policymakers on complex financial innovation topics
• Leadership experience in a top law firm, fintech, blockchain, or market infrastructure company
• Visionary yet pragmatic - capable of turning legal theory into real, scalable systems
• Exceptional communicator, precise in both language and reasoning
• Must be based on the US East Coast, NYC preferred.

You’ll play a defining role in the modernization of financial law - building the bridge between regulated equity securities and blockchain technology.
